Parsons Presbyterian Manor’s third annual holiday drive to benefit the Labette County Emergency Assistance Center and the Safe Haven Shelter will kick off Nov. 19, .
Since its inception in 2009, the annual food drive to benefit two local charities has grown. The first year of the drive actually began as a competition among Presbyterian Manor of Mid-America communities to see which community could collect the most items. Parsons won the competition and collected the prize.
The next year, residents and employees determined the holiday drive was a great way to give back to the community and decided to take it on as an annual event. We were able to donate more than 650 items along with $200 in cash. In 2011, a wooden Christmas tree shelving unit was designed by Marketing Director Terry Lillie and built by her husband Rex. It was used to contain the more than 728 items donated that year. We were also able to provide more than $300 in cash donations.
This year, you can help us meet our goal by dropping off cash donations or non-perishable food items between Nov. 19 and Dec. 21 at Parsons Presbyterian Manor, 3501 Dirr Ave. Thank you for your generosity, and we wish you a very blessed holiday season.
